The most powerful thing shaping your life right now isn’t your mindset.

It’s your home.

Moll Anderson

Beautiful homes are designed. Meaningful homes are lived in intentionally.

I'm not here to talk about throw pillows and paint colors. I'm here to talk about the invisible architecture of your home, the emotional atmosphere you're building every single day, whether you realize it or not. Is there love in your marriage or is there disdain?

Because both of those things furnish a home in ways no decorator ever could. A healing, peaceful home isn't accidental. It's built intentionally and consciously through the energy you bring, the words you choose, and the life you decide to create inside those four walls.

The Psychology of Home™

After decades of studying, designing and writing about the way our homes shape our lives, I knew it was time to make this the focus of my work. I trademarked The Psychology of Home™ because this is more than an idea. Scientific research continues to show that our physical and emotional environments affect our stress, relationships, behavior and overall well-being. This is my specialty, and now it is my mission: to help you understand that changing your home is not always about changing how it looks. Sometimes, it is about changing how it feels. Follow along as we explore the science behind the spaces we call home.

A house is just walls. Four walls, a roof and some rooms. A good contractor can build that. But what lives inside those walls? That’s where everything gets decided. The words you speak to your partner at the end of a hard day, are they landing like warmth or like weapons? Because words do not just disappear. They settle. Into the air. Into the rooms. Into the people you love.

Contempt has a presence. Joy has a frequency. Anger does not leave when the argument ends. It lingers in the emotional atmosphere of your home. That is not interior design. That is The Psychology of Home™.

Childhood home environments shape adulthood

The landmark ACE Study found that emotionally stressful home environments in childhood are strongly associated with higher risks of anxiety, depression, chronic illness, addiction, and mental health struggles later in life.

Emotional safety affects brain development

Harvard’s Center on the Developing Child found that chronic stress inside the home can disrupt healthy brain development and impact emotional regulation, learning, and long-term wellbeing.

Clutter raises stress

UCLA’s CELF research found that people, especially women, who described their homes as cluttered showed less healthy cortisol patterns, linking home chaos with physiological stress.

Restorative design matters

A 2023 Frontiers in Human Neuroscience study linked specific home-environment characteristics to restorative potential and measurable neural activity.

Calming environments affect the brain

Stanford research published in PNAS found that time in natural settings reduced rumination and activity in a brain region associated with depression.

Relationships shape the atmosphere of a home

Decades of research from Dr. John Gottman found that contempt is one of the strongest predictors of relationship breakdown, reinforcing how emotional tone inside a home impacts connection and stability.

Inside The Moll House
The Moll House

What makes this podcast uniquely compelling is that the setting itself becomes part of the conversation. Eschewing the radio studio or basement corner of many shows, The Moll House™ is filmed inside Moll’s own homes, each thoughtfully designed by Moll herself. The rooms are not simply backdrops, they are living examples of the psychology being explored. Every environment is intentionally created by Moll to allow guests and audiences to physically feel the impact of space on emotion and conversation.

This is storytelling grounded in science, elevated through design, and delivered through deeply personal human connection.

“Your home is the most powerful psychological force in your life and most people have never stopped to think about it. The anger that didn't leave when the argument ended. The joy that still lives in that corner chair. The love or the tension that greets you every morning before you've said a word. That's not décor. That's the psychology of home.”
