Risky Business: Fall 2015 Beauty Bets

10.24.15

This fall, I want to encourage you to take a risk. Try a lipstick color you’ve never dared to try before. Experiment with contouring your cheeks. Wear a shadow that makes you feel a little dangerous. My goal is not to make you feel less like yourself, but to step outside your comfort zone just enough, that your beauty routine starts to feel a little dangerous. After all, in fall, the nights get darker earlier, so shouldn’t you bring out your darker side to play?

Wicked lips. I start with lips first, simply because they’re the fastest way to make a bold statement. Look for a lipstick that is dark and dangerous, with a hint of vixen to it. Tom Ford Lip Color in Bruised Plum ($52) is all of those things. Best when paired with minimal, glowing makeup or a strong-yet-simple winged liner, this lipstick will definitely help you make a statement this season.

Make them green with envy. If you want your eyes to steal the show, you can’t go wrong with the appropriately named Chanel Tisse D’Automne ($61).

You can either wear this quad as a natural look, paired with a bold look, like Cara Delevigne here…

Or, you can wet your brush, and really play up the green pigment for more impact.

Carve out your cheekbones. It sounds so violent, but defining your cheekbones is anything but. Proper cheekbone contouring can make your face looks slimmer, more defined and younger! Yes, please to all of the above. But, you must know the proper tools to get it done right! Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow ($68) is just such a tool.

But, don’t just trust me. Trust Sienna Miller and Amal Clooney, who are killing it with the contour.

Moll’s Bag of Tricks: When it comes to contouring, the brush makes all the difference. You want a brush that concentrates on a smaller, more narrow scope, rather than a big, fluffy brush that can get a little out of hand. My pick? Lorac Pro Contour Brush ($22), which fits almost perfectly in the cheekbone.
