Moll’s Beauty Bag: Summer-Ready Skin

07.09.15

It’s that time again…SUMMERTIME! And, summertime means showing a little bit more skin than usual, what with all of the shorts, skirts and sundresses that summer brings. But, before you slip into something summery, make sure your skin is summer-ready! Here are my tips on how to get your skin smooth, silky and glowing!

Exfoliate. This is the key for summer-ready skin! You can use the tried-and-true loofah, (pictured here), but just be sure to wet the skin and soap it up first, with a moisturizing body wash.

If you like more of an all-in-one exfoliating process, choose an exfoliating scrub that will slough away dead skin cells. One of my favorites is Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish ($38) because it smells fresh and lemony! Sugar scrubs are the best kinds of exfoliants because the sugar granules gently slough away dead skin, while “melting” in the water, and rinsing away clean.

Moisturize. To have silky legs and arms, moisturizing is a must. Skin is most receptive to absorbing moisture at night, which is why I love to slather up with lotion right before I go to bed. For rich and deep hydration, the classic Kiehl’s Crème de Corps ($29.50) is the perfect bedtime moisturizer to leave you feeling soft and silky by morning.

But for the daytime, we want our skin to be hydrated, without the heaviness of a nighttime moisturizer. For the day, I like a good sprayable moisturizer, like Vaseline Intensive Care Essential Healing Spray Moisturizer, because it sprays on easily and smoothly, and doesn’t leave you – or your clothes – feeling greasy or sticky. You can literally spray it on and go!

A little glow? The last step to summer-ready skin is adding a little sunkissing to it, of course! For easy, natural-looking skin tone deepening, look no further than the classic Jergens Natural Glow Revitalizing Daily Moisturizer ($8.99). It evenly builds sunkissed color, each time you use it!

Moll’s Bag of Tricks: While I love scrubs with some slip to them, if you’re planning on applying a self-tanner, be sure to choose one that’s oil-free. After all, you don’t want that tanner to slide off!
