It’s St. Patrick’s Day, so get out your green! It’s also Friday, so that’s reason enough to celebrate! According to popular St Patrick’s Day custom in Ireland– “drowning the shamrock” or “wetting the shamrock”–at the end of the celebrations, a shamrock is put into the bottom of a cup, which is then filled with whiskey, beer, or cider and drunk as a toast to St Patrick, Ireland, or those present. The shamrock would either be swallowed with the drink or taken out and tossed over the shoulder for good luck. If you aren’t into Irish whiskey or beer (like myself), but still want a festive way to celebrate, I wanted to share my green colorful cocktail from my new book , Change Your Home, Change Your Life with Color. There may not be a shamrock in the bottom of it, but there is plenty of mint making it a fresh and flavorful way to bring in the green and bring on the celebration! Cheers!
