It’s all about the presentation! Presentation is all in the decadent details. You set the tone of your celebrations in the display of your gifts, décor, and tablescapes, and even in how you present yourself. I like to start with a theme and create my vision for the table from there.
Creating tablescapes is something I love to do. Whether it’s a table for two or a table for twenty, a beautifully decorated table is the showpiece for any celebration. When designing a tablescape, I start with my five must-haves; color, fabric, flowers, lighting and music.
Color and Fabric: Color is a marvelous form or energy and for this bohemian chic gathering I covered the table with a bohemian inspired tablecloth in shades of orange and yellow. With the bright hues of the cloth, I added white napkins to complement the white china and floral centerpiece. Name cards were attached to gift boxes and placed at each of the table setting. The white china topped a clear glass charger embellished with gold beading.
Since I was away from home in Malibu, I rented all the linens and dinnerware from a local party rental. Party rental stores have an array of linens and dinnerware available that will fit most party visions Even if you are home but want to mix up your dinnerware for a special celebration consider renting your linens and tableware. If you are in need of some inspiration stop by a party rental location, you just might find what you need to start creating your own unique table designs.
Lighting: We are moved by light and light is an easy way to create to the perfect atmosphere. My lighting must-have is candles and lots of them. What a beautiful way to create atmosphere! For this bohemian table setting I added Moroccan and mercury glass votives interspersed between the flower centerpieces and throughout the table. The candles glowed in the bright colors of the tablecloth, offering a golden reflection. Votives were also placed throughout the space to create a warm ambiance to the party atmosphere and candlelit glass lanterns lit the pathway to my arriving guests.
Flowers: These extraordinary versatile table accessories come in a variety of colors, sizes and scents, perfect for a wide range of settings. In keeping with the white Boho Chic theme a combination of white flowers were arranged in glass vases and cylinders. The center arrangement was a grouping of white phalaenopsis orchids, white roses, tulips, dahlias and lisianthus with veronica and scabiosa flowers placed between. The large rectangular glass vase was first filled with oasis, then the individual groupings of the white flowers and finished with the placement of wildflowers and green moss. The central arrangement was surrounded by small glass cylinder vases with each with a grouping of orchids, tulips or roses.
Music: Music is the most versatile accessory; so decorate your table with sound. My goddess party playlist included Sade, Nora Jones, Josh Stone and the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack.
