Along with her professional work, Anderson is a dedicated philanthropist focusing her energy on many deserving causes. Her generosity has been shaped by her own experience as a former single mom who struggled to raise a son by herself. In 2006, she and her husband formed the Charlie and Moll Anderson Family Foundation concentrating on basic human needs such as shelter, hunger, education and the protection of women and children. Among its initiatives, Moll pioneered the “Evening Under the Stars” annual event, which has built homes through Habitat for Humanity. Over the last six years, the foundation teams up with America’s talented musical artists to build ‘Music Row’ in Knoxville and provide local families with simple, decent and affordable housing. Anderson also serves on the board for Knoxville Habitat for Humanity.
Anderson has been an active supporter of the City of Hope, T.J. Martell Foundation, and the U.S. Fund for UNICEF including co-chairing the New York City Snow Flake Ball (2013) and the upcoming 2014 event. Moll and her husband were recently recognized with the prestigious “The Gift of Hope award for their efforts with the Boys & Girls Club of Tennessee. At the University of Tennessee, Moll served for 5 years on the Dean’s Advisory Council to The Business School. She established the Moll R. Anderson Scholarship Endowment to provide scholarships for single parents as well as childcare for young children through the Boys & Girls Club. The UT Development Council presented Moll and Charlie Anderson with the 2011 Philanthropists of the Year award. Their foundation has also helped expand Second Harvest’s backpack program, which provides disadvantaged children food to take home for the weekend.
